The nose presents as clean and flinty with mineral pretty floral notes and kiwifruit also. There is a lovely purity of texture and an attractive fleshiness in the mouth. Clean, crisp acids are augmented by mineral notes and wholesome flavours notably melon and granny smith apples. Honey dew melon lingers on the finish.

“ Fruit from the ‘Headwaters’ vineyard, Wairau Valley, cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 12.5% alc. and 3 g/L RS. Very even, pale straw-yellow colour. This has a very fine, tight and elegantly penetrating nose of lifted gooseberry fruit lifted with esters and exotic florals, that unfold, revealing herbal and flinty, minerally elements. Dry to taste, ethereal flavours build in fullness, to show white stonefruits, herbs, tropical fruits and gooseberries, lifted with florals. The flavours follow a very fine, delicately textured and softly acidic line, quietly receding to a light, dry and minerally finish. This is a gently full, open, ethereally-flavoured Sauvignon Blanc with a fine, dry finish. ” 4 STARS 17.5/20pts Raymond Chan, www.raymondchanwinereviews.co.nz, March 2014

“ The 2013 Headwaters Organic Block Sauvignon Blanc reveals a pretty nose of fresh citrus fruits – lemons and grapefruit – with underlying crushed stones and white pepper nuances. Light to medium-bodied and showing a good amount of citrus zest in the mouth, its racy acid backbone extends through the finish. ” Lisa Perrotti-Brown, eRobertParker.com #209, Oct 2013

“ The 2013 vintage (4*) is vibrant, sweet-fruited and tightly structured, with leesy notes adding complexity and strong, ripe melon, grapefruit and spice flavours that build well across the palate to a crisp, lingering finish. ” 4 STARS -Michael Cooper, www.michaelcooper.co.nz, August 2013
