Winery/Brand: Happs
Colour: Intensely purple – a clear indication the wine has escaped the harmful effects of oxidation despite the absence of the antioxidant sulphur dioxide.
Nose: Fresh and clean with cherry, strawberry and dark fruit characters combined with some attractive charry oak.
Palate: Young and fresh with intense berry fruit flavours and savoury confectionary notes. The oak is apparent but the fruit easily matches it. A testament to careful winemaking.
The Story
Vintage: Warm temperatures throughout the summer and during ripening resulted in an unusually early harvest.
Vineyard: Three Hills. Hand pruned to rods. Hand Picked
Grape variety: Pinot Noir, Shiraz, Merlot & Grenache.
Maturation: 8 months in stainless steel
Wine analysis: Alc/Vol: 14.5% Acidity: 6.5 g/l pH: 3.82 Residual Sugar < 0.5g/l
