GrapesRiesling
Skin contact is evident with pale yellow colour. A sweet lemon/citrus nose with a hints of minerality. On the palate, sweet Riesling fruit layered over a dry lively acid backbone and finishing with that engaging touch of bitterness.
"Riesling is the most complex and noble of white wines, demanding intellectual engagement. It flourishes in our cold climate and high iron basalt soils." John Nagorcka - Hochkirch
A standout Riesling from Hochkirch, and aging for 10-12 years will be rewarded.
Tasting Notes for Hochkirch Riesling 2023 from the Winery

Hochkirch

The vines high-density and are dry farmed (no irrigation) and no synthetic fungicides, pesticides or fertilisers are used. Long slow fermentation, natural yeasts, no filtration, minimal intervention and additives. 1.5 Hectares of Riesling certified Biodynamic by Demeter.
Aussie riesling winners: Pewsey Vale, Hochkirch, Lehmann, Brown Brothers and more
Biodynamically grown: 2012 Hochkirch Riesling, Henty Vic, $34. Really lively riesling: full of vibrant yellow citrus tang.
2016 Hochkirch, Henty, Vic, $35 - Riesling with texture and length
Previous vintages of this Demeter-certified biodynamic riesling have often displayed particularly delicious ripe fruit flavours, but the 2016 dials those characters up to 11: it's bursting with soft ripe pear and peach, and has an almost honeyed richness while all the time retaining crucial fresh, balancing acidity.
