Chunky, Fruity, Oaked, Rich, Buttery
This affordable, full bodied white hails from the hillsides of the Languedoc, one of France’s up and coming wine regions. Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc are common grapes here in the South of France, but you’ll also see a smattering of Vermentino, a primarily Italian grape that has a historical foothold in the Pyrenees. The hot sun here imparts tropical notes on the fruit, with banana and clove undertones. This is the first offering that I’ve tried that blends all three together, and the results are quite pleasant.
The nose is simple and charming, offering some pleasant orchard fruit aromas with hints of white flowers, probably provided by the Vermentino. The palate is focused on the Chardonnay. Some spiced apple comes through towards the finish, and a pleasant, zippy acidity seals the deal.
