Little Goat Creek Marlborough
Little Goat Creek is a real place in the heart of Marlborough’s Wairau Valley grape growing region. The creek flows from the Richmond Ranges of Marlborough into the Wairau River and this water in turn feeds the fertile land that produces Marlborough’s famous grapes. New Zealand's climate is perfect for producing crisp, aromatic wines - the long summer days and cool nights provide ideal conditions which preserve purity and freshness. Little Goat Creek wines epitomise these factors: wines packed with flavour and showing great expression of variety. The grapes are sourced from organic vineyards. Being organic, these grapes build up a natural resistance to the elements. The skins become thicker producing more flavour.
Chris Darling & Bart Arnst
With over 30 years winemaking experience, Chris and Bart teamed up to produce the wines for Little Goat Creek. Both men have a passion for making wine and have worked across the world in countries such as France, Greece, Czech Republic, Australia and New Zealand. Chris and Bart also keep themselves busy producing their super premium range, The Darling wines.
Winemaking
The crop levels are keep low which produces small berries and contributes to a concentrated wine. The grapes were picked once the typical flavours of Marlborough were shining through. They were crushed to different fermenters allowing a range of components for blending. The wines were plunged daily allowing the soft tannins to emerge in the wine. By selecting the best combination of these parcels we were able to produce a wine that has flavour and texture. All components were aged on oak until blending which added greater flavour and softness to the wine.
Bold colour and ripe dark fruits flavours flow through this wine. The wine has juicy tannins with a soft mouth feel and good length. This wine will drink well anytime, complementing savoury canapés, red meat dishes or winter salads.
