This wine has a bouquet of ripe blood plums and cherries, attractive Oak and a hint of chocolate. The palate is well integrated and has a good rich length. The tannins are soft and fine contributing to the palate length. Fourteen months in new American oak and one year old French oak have added to the complexity. The wine will age gracefully and be excellent drinking over the next ten years.
The Story
Vintage 2005: It has been the driest growing season for some 100 years in the Hunter Valley this summer. For the big producers this will create problems as their yields drop by up to 30%. For Boutique producers the quantity issue is less of a burden. We are thrilled however that the quality of fruit will be at its highest level. The red wines in particular, with small bunches and berries will deliver outstanding flavours to this vintages’ wines.
