Winery/Brand: Martins Hill
The 2016 Martins Hill Sauvignon Blanc is a very pale youthful wine with lemon citrus aromas, a waft of guava & pineapple and a hint of fennel seed. At only 10.9% alcohol you'd expect the palate to be quite zesty and it is, with a good clean acid line, finishing dry with a little bit of bitterness that leaves your mouth watering. This wine shows great varietal aroma and palate.
As usual, hand picked by a group of friends, family and European visitors, commencing at dawn (14°C) and crushed before midday.
“Caring for your health…and the environment.”
The Story
Martins Hill Organic Wines is a NASAA certified organic vineyard, Organic Vigneron and owner Michael Sweeney planted the first vines in 1985, more vines were added to the vineyard in 2000. Over the past 3 years we have planted Riesling additional Pinot Noir and a Shiraz block has been planted on the slopes of the southwestern side of Martins Hill. These vines have all come from our library rows.
Michael is a passionate winemaker who lives the organic lifestyle, and produces no added preservative and vegan friendly wines. 30 years of organic practices and not using chemicals, pesticides and synthetic fertilizers has resulted in the production of a beautiful clean fruit.
