We’d like to welcome a new comer to our ranks… Miracle on the Wire is a young and innovative organic label.  The name itself celebrates two things; those tiny wonders who’s juice is needed to create the wine (yes, grapes) and the tiny Blue Wren, who can be seen perched on the wires among the leaves and stems at Zeals vineyard.  These delightful little birds add a pop of colour and joy, as well as prophesizing the coming of rain and good fortune.  It’s a perfect melding of the ideas and foundations of a winery which sees the importance of adapting growing methods to embrace nature and to have minimal impact on the environment. 

Miracle on the Wire is situated in The Central Ranges wine district of New South Wales, a region which has been under strain with years of drought.  However, even with little to no rain the vines have continued to flourish and to produce rich and generous wines.  For 25 years the Zeals Vineyard has developed and maintained health soils, using only natural additives and composts to conserve water usage, support local ecosystems and encourage wildlife in the vineyard.  In return the vineyard returns vibrant crops of Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.  The generous fruit flavours, balanced tannins and natural acidity combined with the natural terroir of the vineyard shine through in every glass of carefully crafted wine.

With three wines available on our website, Miracle on the Wire has all your red wine needs covered at a price that will make you smile, and they certainly have some surprises in store for those who are in the know when it comes to reds! 

Merlot

On the nose there are gentle aromas of aniseed, raspberry, and some initial warmth.  To taste there is generous red fruit, with hints of cherry, damson plum.  A merlot with substance, there is a surprising charry fine tannin profile influenced by French oak.  There is a soft mouthfeel and a lingering earthy finish to this impressive and surprising wine.

Shiraz

With an appealing garnet red, this wine is wow on the nose!  Hints of tobacco, leather, lemon scented gum, and violets.  The floral aromatic draws you in and keeps you guessing.  Mixed red fruits, ripe raspberry and spices under pin the initial floral aromas.  To taste, there are gently gripping tannings which open your tastebuds to the subtle French oak characteristics.  A mid weight Shiraz, this will appeal to everyone, especially those who enjoy a European style Syrah.

Cabernet Sauvignon

Ruby red in the glass with typical Cabernet Sauvignon aromas of dark fruits; think stewed plums, black berries, tobacco and cloves.  With a very fine chalky tannin, this wine is mouth filling and lush.  The flavours of dark fruits and charry good quality French oak linger on the palate long after the last sip.

One of the interesting things with this range, is that the Merlot is the most upfront with tannins and structure.  If you’re someone who pooh-poohs a Merlot, this might just be the one that changes your mind.
