Tasting Notes for Mount Avoca Tempranillo from the Winery

Colour: Medium cherry red of good intensity with soft purple on the rim.

Nose: Delightful aromas of dark cherry, raspberry and toasty cocoa dust.

Palate: Clean and lively flavours of freshly picked cherry, rose petal and vanilla bean introduce a perfectly balanced medium bodied wine while soft threads of tannin weave towards a clean finish of pastel strawberries.

Vintage Notes

Consistent winter rains and a mild spring created a perfect growing season and optimal vine health, progressing to a cooler than normal growing season with well placed summer rains.

Winemaking

Estate grown organic Tempranillo grapes are hand harvested and fermented in open vats, plunged three times daily throughout fermentation. The 2021 Tempranillo is made in an early drinking style.

Food Pairing: Cured ham - jamon, pickled vegetables, salami, antipasto dishes, tapas and pizza.
