Deep in colour, brooding berries and plums with some back pepper spice, dark chocolate and tobacco leaf on the nose. The palate is full of plush blood plums mixed spices and hints of earthy complexity. Tannins are beginning to round off and melt beautifully into this approachable yummy shiraz which is only now approaching its prime
The Story
The grapes are grown by the Strachan's, long time organic growers. Their 15+ year old Vineyard close to the foothills of Willunga and has been certified organic since planting in the late 1990's. We bought our first grapes from the Strachan's in 2004, the year before our own vineyards began to crop and made a very popular Shiraz in that vintage. We than began again in 2010 to buy a small quantity of the Strachan's Shriaz, specifically to get our growers series wine label off the ground. We aim to make a Mclaren Vale Shiraz with a bit of a Ngeringa twist - going not only for fruit power but also exploring some of the earthy complexities that we seek for in our estate grown Ngeringa and JE wines.
