Deep red in colour the nose is vibrant and essency with black berry and a hint of earthiness. The medium palate shows lovely powdery tannins with a touch of licorice.
The Story
Gold Medal : 2008 Australia / New Zealand Organic Wine Show.
“When I tasted the first wines from Random Valley vineyard in Margaret River a couple of years ago, I wasn't all that impressed. When I tried the latest vintages a couple of weeks ago, judging the Organic Wine Show, I was very impressed indeed.
Random Valley’s fabulously intense, focused 2007 Shiraz and bright, vibrant 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon (both about $20 a bottle) were the only two reds to be awarded gold medals in the show; the shiraz also won the trophies for Best Red, and Best Wine of Show. What’s more, Random Valley’s shiraz and cabernet from the cold 2006 vintage won bronze medals – the cabernet in a herbal but juicy style, the shiraz in peppery, spicy mould – a real achievement given how difficult the growing season was (www.randomvalley.com).” Max Allen, The Australian, July 2008
