Classic Southern French style rose – dry, vibrant and fruity with a savoury undercurrent.
With a nose of strawberries and stone-fruit, the palate is lively and dry, with a nice texture and richness, (think strawberries and cream) complexed by an earthiness towards the end.
Made with no added sulfites or fining agents. Vegan friendly.
The Story
The Vineyards
The priority is to use the cleanest fruit to make this wine each year, and so it could be from any part of the vineyard, however it has so far been Shiraz or Mourvedre, or a combination of the two, that forms the Freedom Rose.
Sulphur dioxide: Not added
Animal proteins: Not added
Mourvedre is a late ripening Spanish red wine grape widely grown in the south of France. It is resistant to drought and disease, and makes a soft and rustic wine, ideal with earthy flavours of root vegetables, mushrooms, grilled meats, game and duck.
The Freedom Rose is a simple “saigne” or “bleeding off” pink from the same tank as the red, just after crushing the grapes.
The wine is not made for ageing. Only a limited amount of this wine is produced each year to ensure that the wine is sold within 12 months of bottling.
