GrapesPinot Noir
A fuller style of Pinot Noir with dark cherry fruit, earthiness and gentle tannins. The forest floor complexity from the bouquet carries through to the palate, adding depth and intrigue. Toasty oak notes are well-integrated, providing a smoky undertone, while gentle savoury tannins give the wine structure and a long, satisfying finish.
Tamburlaine Point 65 Pinot Noir 2024
Grape Varieties: 100% Pinot Noir
All grapes in this wine are organically grown & certified.
Region: Orange Wine Region
The high altitude, cool climate and volcanic red soils in our Orange vineyards are ideal for growing premium quality grapes.
A Pinot Noir from Tamburlaine's organic vineyards in Orange, NSW, the Point 65 label is named after the fact that for every 100m of elevation, the air temperature drops by 0.65.
Winemaking : The grapes were harvested at optimal ripeness from selected blocks. The fruit was cold soaked to build colour and tannin extraction, then fermented in small batches., with regular juice pump overs. Maturation was in new and seasoned French oak barrels, then blended, fined with vegan friendly vegetable proteins before being filtered to bottle.
Tasting notes:
Colour: vibrant ruby
Bouquet : The nose is rich and layered, offering dark cherry fruit intertwined with earthy floor complexity. The toasty oak adds a subtle smokiness, while hints of mushroom and dried leaves contribute to the wine's overall aromatic profile.
Palate : On the palate, the wine is fuller-bodied for a Pinot Noir, with ripe dark cherry flavours dominating. The forest floor complexity from the bouquet carries through, adding depth and intrigue. Toasty oak notes are well-integrated, providing a smoky undertone, while gentle savoury tannins give the wine structure and a long, satisfying finish.
Enjoy With: Duck breast with a cherry reduction: the dark cherry fruit flavours in the wine complements the richness of duck, while the savoury tannins balance the dish’s flavours.
Cellaring: 3-7 years from vintage, allowing the fruit, oak, and tannins to integrate fully.
Tamburlaine: Since our establishment in 1966, we have strived to produce the best quality wine while at the same time, caring for our natural environment. In 1998 we began converting our vineyards to organic production. The result is not only better tasting wines, but also a more environmentally sustainable farm. Tamburlaine is Australia’s largest certified organic wine grape producer.
