Vintage Notes
The quality of fruit from the 2024 vintage was exceptional. Mild summer temperatures with some good rain events in spring has lead to a vintage with whites having lovely varietal characters and natural acidity, and the red wines are rich, complex, and aromatic. Harvest started at Temple Bruer on the 23rd of January and concluded on the 3rd of April, with 44 individual parcels through the winery during this time.
Vineyard
The early ripening of Pinot Noir makes it an ideal variety to not only make this wine without sulphur dioxide, but to also be grown organically. Our 2024 Pinot Noir is multiregional, with the fruit mainly being grown in Eden Valley, McLaren Vale, and the Riverland, which we believe provides the wine with complexity and freshness.
Winemaking/Vinification
At our warmer sites of McLaren vale and the Riverland, the Pinot Noir was picked in early February and not until April at our cooler sites. The parcels were picked, de-stemmed and then fermented separately for an average of two weeks. A cool and long fermentation enhanced the fresh fruit character of this wine. Malolactic fermentation was completed with French oak prior to bottling in June 2024. No sulphur dioxide was added at any stage.
