GrapesGraciano
The aromas of vanillan oak and liquorice hint at the complexity and depth that will follow. A warm and leathery wine on first taste, this unusual Spanish varietal teases with its range of flavour. The initial hints of a dusty- earthed Summer’s day make way to rich plum and cherry fruit flavours, with a spicy pepper and clove finish.
Looking for a wine to impress? Look no further. Make sure to serve with appropriately rich foods, chorizo laden paella, tomatoey sauces or a hearty peasant-style Spanish stew.
Graciano is a Spanish red wine grape that is grown primarily in Rioja. The vine produces a low yield that are normally harvested in late October. The wine produced is characterized by its deep red color, strong aroma, big rich wines and ability to age well.
With the Mudgee wine region having similar climatic conditions to the Rioja region in Northern Spain (a long and generally dry growing season with cool nights and loads of sunshine), Tony and Debbie McKendry from Vinifera Wines went on an inspired journey into the world of Spanish wine. Their vineyards now boast a host of ‘romantic-red wine’ varietals, including Tempranillo, Grenache, Graciano and Montastrell.
