The grapes for this wine were harvested from two family-owned vineyards that have been organically certified for more than ten years. The Barich family vineyard is located on the River Murray at Loxton. The Strachan family vineyard is located in the Sellicks foothills subregion of McLaren Vale. Meticulous hand detailed work in both vineyards ensure the grapes are in perfect condition when picked.

The 2009 vintage saw good rainfall in December which helped maintain healthy canopies that protected the grapes during the late January heat. The grapes from these vineyards enjoyed mild weather conditions as they slowly ripened during February and March. Made with organic winemaking techniques, this wine was fermented with indigenous yeast and minimal intervention from the winemaker.
