The Story
The grapes were sourced from three family owned, organically certified vineyards. The Barich family vineyard on the Murray River has an easterly aspect on deep sandy soil, the Palena family vineyard has tall vines with healthy canopies that protect the fruit during the warmer ripening months and the Strachan family vineyard in McLaren Vale has a great view over the vale to the sea - an aspect that is also conducive to growing organic grapes with perfect air drainage and breezes. Meticulous hand detailed work in all vineyards ensures that the grapes are in perfect condition when they are picked.
Made with organic winemaking techniques, this wine was fermented with the wild yeast naturally present on the grapes in the vineyard. After fermentation, very little intervention was required from the winemaker to prepare this wine for bottling.
'A properly-certified organic young Shiraz with plenty of vibrant and juicy flavour – some bright red fruit and plum, really lively and soft, sweeping playful tannins and simple, direct fleshy palate shape.' Rated: 90 Points » Nick Stock, Wine 100 (Aus), December 2010
